Ricky Stanzi wasn’t the only former Kansas City Chiefs fifth-round pick that was cut this week. Just days after Stanzi was cut by the Chiefs, DB DeQuan Menzie was released by the Detroit Lions.
Scott Pioli drafted Menzie last year after he starred for Alabama, but unfortunately he never got a chance to show what he could do on the field. The cornerback appeared in just one preseason game before landing on injured reserve.
The Chiefs cut ties with Menzie in May despite the team clearly looking for depth in the secondary. Like Stanzi, the defensive back was claimed on waivers but wasn’t able to make it past the Lions first cuts.
